Senior Planning Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Planning Engineer to lead the planning function for our awarded projects. This role is responsible for overseeing the planning team, managing all scheduling and project control activities, and ensuring timely and accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction planning and possess excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Job Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
I. Team Leadership & Planning Oversight
Lead and supervise the planning team across multiple projects or newly awarded project.
Allocate planning resources and ensure alignment with project timelines and deliverables.
Review and validate baseline programs, weekly/monthly updates, and recovery plans.
Provide strategic planning input and support to the project and senior management team.
II. Project Scheduling & Controls
Develop detailed project schedules
Monitor and track project progress against the baseline schedule and highlight variances.
Prepare delay analysis, critical path assessments, and what-if scenarios.
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure schedule integration.
III. Documentation & Reporting
Ensure all planning-related documents, reports, and updates are prepared, maintained, and submitted in accordance with project requirements.
Manage and control the flow of documents related to project planning, approvals, client submissions, and internal communications.
Maintain records of correspondences, meeting minutes, and client directives relating to planning and scheduling.
Prepare weekly and monthly planning reports, dashboards, and executive summaries for management and clients.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in construction planning, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.
Strong command of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and other project planning tools.
Knowledge of construction methodologies, contract management and delay analysis techniques.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Experience working with general contracting firms on medium to large-scale projects.
